iCQ Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at individuals who are working in a role within healthcare settings. It is aimed at learners in positions who typically help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people. Learners will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, and will provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols always acting within the limits of their competence.

Learners may work in a range of services, for example hospital, community, health centre, someone’s home, nursing or care home, hospice or GP surgery. They will work in partnership with families, carers and other service providers.

The Highfield qualification covers three specialisms: Adult Nursing Support, Mental Health Support and Children and Young People Support.

The qualification supports delivery of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship standard.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification, learners should expect to undertake 650 hours of learning, of which a minimum of 390 will be guided learning hours.

The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is specifically designed for learners who already work in health and social care in adult settings. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop fundamental and specialist knowledge and understanding underpinning competence in their intended specialism and job role. This includes knowledge and understanding in areas such as safeguarding and protection in care, health and safety in health care settings, inclusive practice and equality and diversity, dementia care, stroke care management and public funding models in adult social care. This also includes skills such as developing and maintaining accurate records, facilitating support planning and person centred assessment, partnership working, mentoring and advanced communication skills.

Structure Requirements: To achieve this qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 65 credits, 27 credits from Mandatory Group A. Group B is divided into pathways B1, B2, and B3. There is also Optional Group C. Learners must select one pathway from Groups B1, B2, and B3. Learners selecting Group B1 (Early Learning and Childcare) must achieve 22 credits. Learners selecting Group B2 (Social Care) must achieve 13 credits. Learners selecting Group B3 (Learning, Development and Support Services) must achieve 13 credits. The remaining credits must be achieved in Group C. Units already completed as part of the chosen mandatory pathway cannot be recounted as part of the remaining credits to be achieved in group C.
